Seattle Indian Health Board and the Thunderbird Treatment Center

On Thursday, March 21, leaders of the Seattle Indian Health Board attended the Community Council meeting and gave a presentation and answered questions from community members. There was not enough time to answer everyone's questions at the meeting. The Council board will continue to collect the questions and will pass them along to the Seattle Indian Health Board, and we will invite them back to continue the conversation. The members present at the September 19 meeting of the Vashon-Maury Community Council voted "to endorse the effort to bring Thunderbird Treatment Center to Vashon as soon as possible, given that the addiction crisis is a reality on Vashon-Maury Island as well as in King County."


Motion details:

FOR: 97 (37 in person, 60 online)

AGAINST: 26 (6 in person, 20 online)


In addition, a Frequently Asked Questions was prepared by board members of the Vashon-Maury Community Council, to help bring clarity to the issues surrounding the Thunderbird Treatment Center.
